SWM Sponsors North Devon Journal Community Awards

SWM has announced it will be sponsoring the Community Fundraiser category in the forthcoming North Devon Journal Awards, in recognition of the important contribution inspiring people of North Devon make.

SWM supports the idea community fundraising creates a relationship between volunteers and those who donate. Martin Mogford, Operations Director said, "It's not just about the fundraisers but about the amazing wider community as well. It is important to acknowledge those inspiring people who dedicate themselves to doing good, because in the words of Pope Francis doing good deeds can help promote a better society. It is great that the North Devon Journal chooses to create an awards ceremony to celebrate the good deeds carried out by individuals in our community. Because it is a local paper with a large local following it can showcase to a wide and diverse audience the voluntary work undertaken by individuals, which helps our neighbourhoods and communities be better places to live."

SWM has supported this initiative, as we wanted to be involved in raising awareness of people who give up their own time, or make sacrifices to benefit others. These individuals often go unnoticed and probably don’t want any recognition; so being able to come together to celebrate their efforts seems a fitting tribute.
